I have a clematis in my garden which has grown huge. For sentimental reasons I would like to take it with me when I move......ant tips please???
Any advice please....reference clematis...?
Prune the entire vine down to just above the first strong bud, then dig up the root ball, getting as much of the root as possible. Do this after all the foilage has fallen off.
Reply:Well for starters when digging the plant up dig far enough around it not to damage to many of the roots. they will probably have alot of roots. so find a pot or something to put them in to keep the roots covered and moist until you can get it replanted again.. I would use peat moss in the pot it works best at keep it moist until you can get it replanted where you want it to be.. make sure you dig your new hole big.. and mix the peat in your pot with the new soil will give the roots growing room.. pack the roots carefully as not to damage them.. and so there is no air pockets around them.. spread the roots. .. it will grow great for you again where ever you move it too. good luck..with your move
Reply:Cut it down to ca 30 cm after it has shed its leaves. Dig it out, trying to get as much of the root as possible, and replant it.
Reply:Take cuttings %26amp; root in Hormone powder.
Reply:Yes! although you didnot specified which one you have:Anemone,Clematis, Sweet Autum Clematis,or clematis Armandii. They all do well in raining season or in summer you have to water them twice a week. And, yes you can take them with you. When you prepare the soil, be sure is about two feet deep. Do Not plant then near deep rooted trees!! Good Luck!!
Reply:take a cutting, put it in water untill you see new roots coming out then replant to your new garden.
